Do I need to be technical to use a VPN?
No. Modern VPN apps are one button: you log in, pick a location, and connect. The guides here explain what happens behind that button so you can make informed choices, but you never need to touch a config file unless you want to.
Does a VPN make me anonymous online?
No, and any service that promises full anonymity is overselling. A VPN hides your IP address from the sites you visit and protects your traffic on the local network. Websites can still recognize you through your logins and cookies. Our privacy guide explains exactly where the limits are.
Will a VPN slow down my connection?
A little, because your traffic takes an extra hop and gets encrypted. With a nearby server and a modern VPN protocol, most people do not notice the difference. Our speed guide covers what affects VPN performance and how to tune it.
Is it legal to use a VPN?
In most countries, yes. VPNs are standard business tools used by companies everywhere. A small number of countries restrict or ban them, so check local law before you travel. Using a VPN never makes an illegal activity legal.
What does vpn.now know about me when I connect?
We never store browsing activity, DNS queries, or traffic contents. We keep only aggregate connection counts per server for capacity planning, and those are deleted after 30 days. Our transparency report lists every piece of data we hold.
