Protect your iPhone today, while we finish the app

You do not have to wait to use vpn.now on iOS. You can connect right now with the official tunnel app, which is free on the App Store. It takes about five minutes.

  1. Install the official tunnel app from the App Store.
  2. In Safari, sign in to your dashboard, add an iPhone device, and download its config.
  3. Open the config in the tunnel app and switch the tunnel on.

Why we are taking our time

An iOS VPN app has to be built a certain way, and we would rather do it right than rush.

On iPhone and iPad, a VPN runs inside something Apple calls a Network Extension. It is the only supported way for an app to move your traffic through a tunnel. Getting it solid takes care, because it has to wake up fast, stay stable in the background, and reconnect cleanly when your phone changes networks.

We are also working through App Store review. Apple checks VPN apps closely, and that is a good thing. We want the version you install to be the one that handles the rare edge cases well, not a quick build that drops your connection at the wrong moment.

In the meantime the manual route above gives you the same encrypted tunnel today. You are not waiting on protection, only on the one-tap polish. Read more about our VPN protocols or how we approach security.

What protection looks like today vs with the app

  • Today: a full VPN tunnel through the free official tunnel app
  • Today: your IP hidden from the sites you visit
  • Today: setup by importing one config file
  • With the app: the same tunnel, but connect in one tap
  • With the app: pick a location from a list, no files to manage
  • With the app: an option to connect on Wi-Fi you have not used before

The encryption is the same either way. The app only makes it easier to turn on.
